GiveAway, GiveAway

Man, I love dinnerware sets!

These people at CSN Stores just love me, what can I say.

Some fun things I found while browsing:
Really, who doesn't need a multi-colored stuffed elephant, an instant 7 person puppet show, a craft for fancy lime water and peeping-tom q-tip holders for the bathroom...
This stuff is classic and crazy and fun.

To enter this fabulous $40.00-get-anything- online-from-CSN-stores-giveaway, please leave a comment with your email address and list the craziest thrill-seeking adventure you've done.  I want my next adventure to be skydiving.  Weeeeeee!!!

New Favorite Cupcake

Wuollet's wins... hands down.

Sorry Cake Eater Bakery, you are quirky and cute and kitschy, but Wuollet's has beat you out by a longshot.

Reasons why I love Wuollet's:
  • Big, chocolatey peanut butter fluffy cupcakes
  • Best carrot cake ever
  • Convenient locations
  • Cupcake price:  $1.65
  • I like the way they fold down the cupcake wrapper at the top (random, I know)
Reasons why I love Cake Eater Bakery:
  • Great people watching
  • Quirky, fun atmosphere
  • Best breakfast cookies ever!
  • SuperFun website
Reasons why I do not love the Cake Eater Bakery:
  • Ridiculous service (slowww)
  • Ripoff prices (cupcakes are $3 each)

In Case You Were Wondering...

This is where you can get a falafel necklace...

Main Entry: fa·la·fel
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural falafel also felafel
Etymology: Arabic falāfil
Date: 1949
: a spicy mixture of ground vegetables
(as chick-peas or fava beans)
formed into balls or patties
and then fried

PS I ate a LOT of these in Israel.  I'm so over them.  I'm so grateful I was able to visit Israel!  What an amazing adventure!  Erin & Emily - have a fabulous time!
PPS During this meal, a cockroach crawled across the table
and I nearly lost my falafel.

All About Gratitude

"Be grateful. How thankful we ought to be. How comfortably we live. How very easy is life compared to what it once was. . . . We have it so easy, so pleasant, so delightful. We ride in cars that are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. . . . [We have] the miracles of medicine, the miracles of science, the miracles of communication, transportation, education---what a wonderful time in which to live. Of all of these wondrous, challenging things with which we live, I hope you regard it a blessing to be alive in this great age of the world. . . . I hope you walk with gratitude in your hearts, really.

Grateful people are respectful people.
Grateful people are courteous people.
Grateful people are kindly people.

Oh how I love him!

Best Key Lime Pie Recipe EVER.  This is my most favorite foodie blog because she knows how to bake and cook & plus she is very, very funny/witty/entertaining.

You know you want some.  You really, really want some.  And if I can make this, then YOU can surely make this.

(photo lovingly borrowed from Sugar Plum)
Maybe I will make this on our family vacation this summer.  I promise -- this will be WAY better than my peach cobbler from that wonderful camping trip.

Who Doesn't Love Phoebe's Songs?!

Are you in there little fetus?
In nine months will you come greet us?
I will... buy you some Adidas.
First time I met Chandler
I thought he was gay,
But here I am singing
on his wedding day.
They're tiny and chubby and so sweet to touch,
and soon they'll grow up and resent you so much.
Now they're yelling at you and you don't know why,
and you cry and you cry and you cry.
And you cry and you cry and you cry and you cry...

No power
New York City has no power,
and the milk is getting sour.
But to me it is not scary,
'cause I stay away from dairy.
LA la, la LA la, LA la...

I sing this one all the time.  I've been hoping for the power to go out so I can sing it again sometime soon.  I just need to learn the guitar parts.

Also, I like to make up songs.  I've done this for several years.  It was recently brought to my attention by a 4 year old that we have a lot in common.  She too, makes up songs.  This was Chloe's latest:

(read in sing songy voice, tune does not matter)
"Marla, please close the trunk
I wish you would close the trunk."

Yes, that's the end.

Frogurt - Which Is It?

OK OK, it's BOTH!
Emily, Dan, Eva & me indulged in a little Frogurt this week.  My first hint of Frogurt showed up in the best TV show ever written (do I even have to name it? Puh-lease).  Emily and Dan are just getting into LOST.  JUST. GETTING. INTO.  I have been a raving lunatic of a fan for the past six years.  I admit it's been on and off... but really, it was a fun show to get lost in (get it?).  While watching these episodes, Emily & Dan told me about a place in West Jordan called "Frogurt".  Sadly, this establishment does not have a website (seriously? is this 1990 and no one told me?) so I will just have to fill you in on how it works.  You get this huge trough bowl at the beginning of the line.  A "small" looks like a room for a family of four.  The large looks like a bucket for Paul Bunyan.  The next step is choosing your flavors.  I selected chocolate, peanut butter & cake batter.  Toppings come next.  They had just about every topping I've heard of (except waffle cones -- I love those!).  I got snickers, strawberries, and reese's peanut butter cups.  It was SO. GOOD.  Somehow the tub disappeared and I refrained (somehow) from licking the bowl.  Eva sure loved it!  I'm not sure who had more icecream on the face by the end of the treat -- Eva or me.

Pictues coming soon!

Here's a little shout out to Emily, Dan & Eva for their next adventure... May you find yourself having fun in Camp Granada.

Hello Mudda, hello Fadda
Here I am at Camp Granada
Camp is very entertaining
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining

Take me home I promise I will not make noise
Or mess the house with other boys
Oh please don't make me stay
I've been here one whole day
Dearest Father, darling Mother
How's my precious little brother
Let me come home if you miss me
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me

Wait a minute it stopped hailing
Guys are swimming, guys are sailing
Playing baseball, gee that's betta
Mudda Fadda kindly disregard this letter!

My Daddy Is My Favorite Pal

And I hardly help him every day...  well, it's true.  He always helps ME with everything.  House stuff, car stuff, picking out ugly tennis shoes and buying a dirt bike for a 12 year girl... you know, that type of stuff.

Father's Day 2010 was fun.  Our dad can take FOR-EV-ER opening up any type of present.  Even if it's just in a gift bag.Somehow, the suspense always kills us and we end up making him speed up the long, tortured process.

This year we got him a fun gift that he said he wouldn't use (but we are going to make him)however his favorite gift was given to him by The Golden Child (can you blame him?).

He's holding that very gift... check it:

But, just for the record.. I got it at B&N for a mere three dollars.  Dad, aren't ya so proud?!  :)  xooooox

Camping Recap

Pretty Reva.  Chloe always looks down before I take the shot.  We'll have to have a serious sit-down chat the next time I see her.
Some serious baby chunkage.
I love him!
The kiddos love Otis.  I wish I could say the same.
Zayah on the trolley.  Read in sing songy voice:  So Big!
Brother & Sister Luv (or torture, depending on how you look at it)
Jake:  Marla, why do you make me take all these pictures?
Marla:  It's good for you Jakey Cupcakey, it grows hair
on your chest.
Chloe's got it down...
the look of death.
Mama's got it down...
the look of .... Hello Kitty
Lovely inchworms.  They are cute
in your hand...
but not when they fall
on your head from the trees.
Stud.  What a stud.
How he got to be such a stud...
by sneaking in the cooler...
I love this photo!!!
Chocolate covered strawberries.
Chloe & Magnum P.I.
Grandpa.  With his head lamp on.  Just in case
the sun suddenly goes out.  Because you never really know...

PS I hate camping.  I will never like camping.  Ever.  But I would follow my family around anywhere just be near them.

stands for:  My Life is Average....

FUN site. I'm a little addicted.
So last night when I was scanning the stories, looking for a good chuckle, I came across my Alma Mater.
--------------------------------------------Today, I was wearing a Utah State shirt on the BYU campus. The ice cream store I went into had a really cute guy as the cashier. After I ordered my ice cream, he told me "I can't give that to you until you take off your shirt." I told him "Get a life pervert!" and he started apologizing. Guess who got a free ice cream today? This is how I feel about Eva:
She's the milk to my cookie.
See you soon little one!
