If My Mom Had a Blog...

I am pleased to introduce to you my very first Guest Blogger... the talented and lovely and wonderful Sandy Kucera.  Read on my friends, read on.

I wish I had the “real” picture, but this is the story:

Jana and James and Grandma K took Jacob and Chloe and Anna to the Mall of America on Black Friday (aptly named). One of the rides was Swiper’s Cars (from Dora the Explorer) and the kids had to be 42 inches to go by themselves. So Jacob and Anna go hand in hand over to their car of choice. The guy running the ride very kindly told Chloe she was too short and had her walk back to me. When James realized that she was not going to be able to ride without an adult (we’re talking Junior rides here folks), he came around the corner, scooped her up, put her in a car, then lowed his 6’6” frame into the seat next to her. She just beamed. I’m sure James’ knees got thrown - hard - against the front of the seat every time they flew around the corner, but he just smiled.

Love doesn’t get more compassionate than that.

PS James, Marla here....
which Dora ride are you gonna take ME on?
I want cotton candy too!

Pure Genius.

This other one had me cracking up even more... not sure why.  It's not as popular as the other one, but Oh Danny Boy! I will never think of you the same.

Have a Heart

Female roles did not begin on earth, and they do not end here. A woman who treasures motherhood on earth will treasure motherhood in the world to come, and “where [her] treasure is, there will [her] heart be also” (Matt. 6:21). By developing a mother heart, each girl and woman prepares for her divine, eternal mission of motherhood. “Whatever principle of intelligence [she] attain[s] unto in this life, it will rise with [her] in the resurrection. And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through [her] diligence and obedience than another, [she] will have so much the advantage in the world to come” (D&C 130:18–19).
...
Every girl and woman who makes and keeps sacred covenants can have a mother heart. There is no limit to what a woman with a mother heart can accomplish. Righteous women have changed the course of history and will continue to do so, and their influence will spread and grow exponentially throughout the eternities.

Excerpt taken from Julie B. Beck, talk entitled: A Mother Heart.

I am grateful for my sisters and mother who have shown me what this looks like, in every way, and who have helped me to develop my own mother heart.  They are good, kind and true.

My new favorite cartoon

http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/ (we tweaked the above cartoon just a wee bit)

My favorite cube neighbor and I had a good laugh/cry about this cartoon.  It must've been a tough day.  But I still stand by it's funniness and even uploaded it as my picture on my free luggage tag (click here for your free tags).

no matter how old they get,
never lose their beauty -
they merely move it from

Yoda One For Me

Halloween, October 31, 2009.
Leaving a Star Wars Legacy
for generations to come.

Yoda ate too much candy,
Princess Leia wouldn't keep her wig on
because it was too hot & itchy
and Darth Vader got a little giddy.
